Question 2002 225 EFI from normal to won't start

Went to lake the other day for a day of fishing and boat ran perfectly normal all day. Went back to the ramp to load up and I beached the boat to back truck down. When I went to start the motor again it started for a half second then sputtered out and died. After this it would not fire at all as if the kill switch had been bumped. Boat has plenty of gas in it and ran perfect all day. I've had zero issues out of my motor in the 5 years I have owned it. Pretty stumped as to what this could be. Any help is appreciated. Checked fuses. All good. Not hearing fuel pump at all…didn’t have multimeter to see if it’s getting power but it should be if the fuse is good..so leads me to think the fuel pump could be bad?

For what it us worth, I had a similar experience last year with a 2002 2.5 litre 225. The engine would crank but not fire. Could not hear the fuel pump run but it was getting voltage. Tapped on the VST and the fuel pump spun up. Happened a couple more times before I replaced the fuel pump. Fuel pumps were hard to come by last summer due to supply chain issues.

Tested the high pressure fuel pump inside the vst and it is not running so I'm thinking I need to order a new one. Anyone know where I can buy one online?? Can't seem to find the direct replacement other than one that might fit on <See Announcements>

Something I thought was odd. I had an Opti 200 ,I could hear the fuel pump run at key on even with the cowl on. I now have an EFI 225 and can’t hear the pump run at key on unless I remove the cowl. I would have thought the newer design pump would be quieter.

Ok guys- just a reminder, per the Forum Announcements, we do not support the BAY, or items purchase on the "bay" here in the forums.

So latest update. Replaced the high pressure fuel pump inside the VST and now can hear the fuel pump running however I’m still not
getting fuel actually pumped up and out of the VST. Took the top left fitting off and the screen in there isn’t clogged with anything but there is no fuel coming out of it when pump is audibly running. I confirmed there’s fuel in the bottom of the reservoir/high pressure pump so something in between there is my issue I believe. Could I have gotten a faulty new pump?

VERY unlikely that both the old pump AND the new pump are failed.

Verify that the rubber seal between the pump outlet and the top cover is intact, properly seated, and tight.

Also verify that the VST float/needle are at correct level and permitting the VST to fill completely.
