Humminbird DI from 2D/DI Only Units Mounted on the Trolling Motor

We get asked alot for images from different water depths and structure types. To help other see the benefits and user results of the different depth ranges and structure type lets start threads on different conditions to show how the Humminbird Performs. We will start a Master Thread and then we can link these different Depths and Structure Type Images to those threads to help others.

This thread will will be for Down Imaging from 2D/DI Units Mounted on the Trolling Motor.

If you have settings information or can help describe the image please share that too.

Mike, I'd like to see some more pics from 2d/DI combos as I'm trying to figure out what to get to go at trollingmotor to try to catch Smallies & Spots in deep water on Cumberland. Fishing deep doesn't bother me at all & figure it would be to my advantage. Most that fish with me can get a little tore up with fishing deep by feel only & I'd like to be able to zoom in & show them what we're fishing this deep for.

Image says 0.4 MPH...There is no Minimum or Maximum Speed Limit on Humminbird especially with the ability to adjsut scroll speed to keep image in portion to the natural occurence of the structure or fish. Set your scroll speed to match boat speed.

If you drive real fast you will only see the major changes but the best images are created at slow steady speed and matching your chart scroll speed.

Les, This is what I have been saying all along. Seeing STRUCTURE or COVER is where you need to be going 2 to 4mph because structure is usually big or bigger than fish. It's kinda like looking through a key hole.. You only see part of the image. Now if you could move the key hole then you can see more of the structure/cover. Maybe a bad example there but thats all I can think of.

In this instance with FISH the fish is going the 2 to 3mph and the boat is stationary. DI is great on the T motor for seeing FISH when you are stationary. But SUCKS for cover and structure? Thats why I reccomend DI only units at the console vs at the T Motor.

I guess I need to do a video as I got an idea. LOL.

Thanks, I think you explained it pretty clearly in your last statement. At least clear enough for me to understand.

A couple of shots using a 597ciHD DI mounted on trolling motor.

All snapshots were taken at either a slow wind drift, slow trolling motor speed or drifting with a slow current in the main lake channel.

Some deep water fish in river channel

    Shallow water grass
