    Hydrofoils

I have seen a number of advertisements explaining the benefits of adding a hydrofoil to outboard engines (quicker to plane and able to stay at a plane at lower speeds). Many of the hydrofoils say they are suited for up to 350 hp outboards.

Question - does anyone have experience with these on larger engines? If yes, are they worthwhile?

    Thanks!

    Re: Hydrofoils (Bow Down)

I would get the one from Bob's Machine Shop. Its cheap, and its not as ugly as the ones you buy in the store. If you are into buying traditional model. It is called a tru-tracker.

You can also get on Fastbass and get a Bman foil. He is a stand up guy, and as long as you dont jump barge rollers and stuff, he will stand behind it. It costs more then a bobs.

You can also send to lower off to Low H20 and have titus do the Honda mod to it. He welds some metal onto the cavitation plate, thus creating a lower unit that looks like it came that way. It costs more then a Bmans foil, but looks very clean.

    Re: Hydrofoils (Lockjaw)

Lockjaw, I tried the one from bobs machine and I hated it. It didn't help holeshot or anything. I put the sting ray brand on and it works sooo much better. just my 2 cents

    Re: Hydrofoils (302w)

Really? I ran a bobs and liked it ok. It was the only one I have tried. It helped me get out of the hole and kept me on plane at slower speeds.

I like the BMAN one. If I was going to get one, that is what i would get.

I just wonder: If they do such a good job: Why do not outboards come with something similar from the factory?
