I have been using the Spintech hooks and basstar baits for a few weeks now and I can tell you I'm impressed. I put the spintech hooks on my 1/4 trap and while there was a little difference in the feel of the bait in the water, it still hooked fish and it hooked them good. I got 2 fish deep and in the grass and was able to get both in the boat.
I used the Big Mac crankbait in Rodman and caught a couple of fish in 26' of water. the bait is 1oz and dives to 22' depending on the line you use. I was getting it down to 17ish' the wobble is awesome and it has the spinning hooks also. All basstar baits have either the spintch hooks or a rotating base for the treble to connect to the bait.
The prop Runner and prop runner jr are sweet. the prop runner is a bit bigger than most like to use down here, but I love it. its big and calls up big fish. I have caught a 8.5# fish on the Silent runner jr which is a smaller version of the prop runner, but without the prop. they walk awesome and make a good bit of noise, even though its called silent.
I think a big reason is one of the points they make, the fish cannot get leverage on the hook like with traditional hooks. I have played the fish more than I usually do to see what the hooks do and I am sold. guys you need to check out these baits and hooks, you'll be sold too. Get with Bryan at Gatortackle and he will get you hooked up.
