Well it is that time of year and the oil in the lower unit looks a little milky. the image below was taken when the oil was draining. Some of it was milky and some normal looking. Any thoughts on this? I did see some shavings of metal but not much at all. Anyone know how much a vacuum and pressure test would be? What is the best thing to do?

It's about $40.00 around here. Then you
can see where your at. If you have a seal
or o-ring bad you might as well do all of
them while you have your lower unit off.
If your up to it you can do it yourself.
I personally didn't think it was that hard.
I think it's about $400.00 if the shop does it.
You might be lucky and just your teflon
drain plug washers need to be replaced.

If the test is around 40$ you can buy a tester for that. You could do if yourself but have to have the tools for a coule seals..mainly propshaft. If you buy the kit and take the lower off and take it in your looking at 125-150$ around here. Its about a 2 hr job. Just taking the lower in along with your kit will save you money...the labor is what gets you. Oh yeah if you psi test yourself do not test over 15psi...normally 8-12psi will do...let it set over night...shouldn't be any change.
