I just got back. In Sept alot will depend on temps. On this trip the fish seemed to be scattered and the only pattern I found was fishing the back side of the grass mats. Sitting in about 8 ft throwing tex rig up near (but not to) the mats. So throwing near the scattered grass and pulling a worm through the submerged grass. My best was a 6 lber (caught on a white trick worm) but I caught some other good fish in the 2-4 lb range.
Look for schooling fish too....keep a zara spook, sammy or pop r on the deck ready to throw. Have fun.

Mid October the water should be cooling down and the grass should be good and matted up. The biggest thing that will dictate the bite will be tempature for both water and air. If the temps are down in the 70's and 60's hold on!!!! Id take 4 rods Frog/rat, Buzz Bait, Texas rigged rodent 1/2 ounce -2 ounce and a big swim bait. Mid October besides febuary and march is probaly the best month on Guntersville.

Don't forget rattletraps, they are deadly on Guntersville in the Fall around scattered grass.
