One of my country boys, Colt Ford, is going to have a show up at the ramp on Sunday. I wish I could be there but its Father's Day and we have to trapes all over the country that day.
It would be nice to follow some of those guys on the water to see how they fish.

We can follow them Saturday Duane if you want to. We'll have our 20 lbs Saturday morning before those guys ever launch.![]()
Bwahahaha....that's about the funniest thing I've typed in a long time.![]()

That's not too far wrong, Jason. Most all the guys are catching their fish early and fast on top. Schooling fish chasing the spawning shad on the river ledges. The shad move out deeper when the sun comes up over the horizon and then it gets tougher. So, if you and Duane know the right hump you can get well in about your first 8-10 casts!
I'm not fishing Sat because I don't want to run in on Walker or McClelland fishing my favorite hump. I like that spot and usually camp on it since I'm to old to move around much... I think I'll mozy on over to Tunica with my lovely wife for the weekend. The odds for getting lucky will be better there than on Wheeler, if you know what I mean...![]()

Well, now that the Elites are gone...
That hump in First Creek is now a television community hole. That's why I love for the big boys to run through here once or twice a year and run our lake with the TV crews. Some of the holes we worked to find over the last 25 years are now being viewed on Basscam and marked on GPS for all to see. Ain't that an easy way to find a good spot? Geez, Louise!
I'm thinking of fishing less and playing more old man's baseball this summer. Anybody want to buy a Skeeter???![]()

There's gonna be christmas trees and all sorts of garbage dumped on those areas now.

What's funny is that my two favorite humps provided something like four of the top seven places. Your hump in First creek was already public knowledge. I've been fishing it since I bought my first boat in '02.![]()
The spot Roy was fishing, Eric and I have fished since '08 I think it was.![]()
Nothing is sacred anymore.

Don't worry guys, your humps still may be good. The pros may have been the same small area, but they were not on the exact spots most fish. THey was doing something a little different. Watched both Roy and David catch fish. David W. should of had a bigger bag, let some good ones get off.![]()
No doubt. Me and my wife still think my humps are good. Slower, but a lot more productive. Yep, a little difference does make my hump better. She fishes with me, ya' know...
Duane, I hear you on the trees and stuff. But that's better than the old batteries and stuff guys used to 'plant' on some of the better spots. Their thinking was ruin the spot rather than learn the spot.
Jason you should be ashamed to admit that about the 1st creek hump. It is one of the few (3-4) spots that I have ever lost my temper/cool on the lake with another boat. I tried to climb into another guy's boat a few years back after he had left a marker on 'the' hump and left to go back by the marina and troll awhile. I ran right up to the area, dropped my trolling motor and eased up on the hump slowly. Looked up and there was a marker. What the????? I looked around and nobody within half of a mile. I dropped my jigging spoon down for about 10 minutes and here comes the troller back my way.
I was putting 2 and 2 together in my head when he came right at me and cussed me a blue streak for fishing on his marker. Well, that lit my old fart arse up and we went at it. I don't think he understood at first but when I told him to come a few feet closer so I could get in his boat with him, it finally sank in! When I told him I had been fishing there when he was wearing diapers and pooping yellow it made him madder. I don't know why. Eventually I calmed down and apologized for cussing him and threatening to maim him. He agreed he shouldn't have left the marker and went up the creek.
A year or so later I met him with a buddy of mine at the 1st Creek ramp. We were discussing the big crowds and 'it ain't like it used to be' when I told the story of my 'almost' killing on the hump. Turned out my buddy's friend stepped up and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Kelley, it was me that did that."
Turns out he was a nice young man and we hugged and apologized for both our stupid behavior (mostly mine). I gave him a nice jackplate for his boat and we were buddies. I even saw another time a few months later and moved off the hump so he and his son could make a pass. His son hooked a 4# bass and went on to win the junior tournament that day.
It ain't worth it. Y'all just go ahead and fish it to death. I'll stick with my wife, our humps and Tunica casinos. My Mississippi humpin' is better anyway.![]()
