    rusty.......need some guidance, please

the motor-'00 175 ficht. i drained the L/U fluid last fall, looked perfect, but i took it out scouting for some duck bays a couple (2 maybe 3) times afterward, and then finished winterizing it. fluid was fine when i changed it out. changed it today, and i'm guessing the cream colored swirlly stuff floating on top is water. how what why would that happen. i went ahead and replaced the lube anyways, but when i put the top plug in and took off the filler tube on the bottom, the fluid came pouring right back out. that hasn't happened to me before, i assume that air is getting in somehow. i don't have a clue as to where to look and can't afford to have a mechanic do some exploratory surgery on top of what the problem may be. if there any tips you could provide me with as to where to look and perhaps how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

on top of that, it sounds like my tilt/trim is sucking in air when it hits certain spots or is at rest for a bit. i'll hit the tilt and it will make the sound again.

never mind about L/U, it's going to the shop next thursday for a pressure/vac test, and if it's not overly complicated i'll do them work myself. i still don't have a clue about the trim/tilt making the sucking noise, but now another prob i found. i've got oil inside the cowl housing, and when i removed the air breather(?), the breather has quite a bit of oil in it. 4 of 6 intakes(?) have quite a bit oil coming out of them, from where i sure as heck don't know. are there any suggestions/ideas that may explain this, and how concerned should i be about it? thanks.

First thing, if its water it will not float on the oil, The oil will float on top of the water, is this gear lube by any chance Lubramatic?

The oil in the motor pans is normal, as is the oil in the air box (oil pan), the motor when tilted will allow oil to drain in to the air box (oil pan) and then into the motor pans.

Don't be concerned, just clean the pans and drain the air box (oil pan) from time to time.

nope, its evinrude. im guess i described it wrong. it's swirled throughout the lube, just more so up top. do you think that it may be something else besides water? i still have it in the drain pan, i'll check it again.

rusty, went out and looked it over again. the stuff still looks creamy and just about all of it had setteled to the bottom of the oil pan with a couple of very minute swirls up top.
