Serial number only tells you Dealer work, it wont tell you the "TRUE" history on how a motor was cared for.
That was my assumption. But the serial will confirm LU and what “should” be on this motor. Whether a LU was swapped etc.
appreciate the intel
gen 2 TM , trim system replaced early , as well as compressor failure in 2023 rails supposedly cleaned at shop

joe. Thank you. Compressor failure and supposedly cleaned are some red flags.
how does it read when you look up the serial as “supposedly cleaned? Thats the exact time this motor went up for sale. Was this work done at a authorized merc dealer or?
really puts things into perspective.
If it's in the mercury system it was done at a dealer. I'm sure it says that the rails were cleaned, the "supposedly" likely comes from it saying they were cleaned, but there are only a few places that do it correctly. That's my unqualified thought on "supposedly".
Making good people helpless has never made bad people harmless.
was done by dealer or i as a MERCURY MARINE dealer could not see warranty repairs , regulator diaphragms and tracker as well as o rings were issued as a result of compressor failure contaminating rails thus the cleaning , now how good a clean i cant tell may have been wiped off i dont know, the sure way to verify would be have them PROFESIONALY verified /certified A#1 GENUINE done , best i can do on the intel ...... trust me

I know all to well how a repair on anything is only as good as the prep. I would not have brought the question forward if i did not trust BBC’s answer.
The other scenario could have been just a compressor leak. Seal change. Compressor may have never actually broken down, but pictures would be the only verifier.
too bad documented Mercury work is not backed up by pictures. I say this because a documented compressor failure can be interpreted many ways. A leaky seal is alot different outcome vs an overheat bearing failure
priceless info.
+1 Joe
If the compressor just had suffered a "leak" then there is no reason to state the rails were cleaned.
"compressor failure contaminating fuel rail '' stated was no seal leak
