High Rock Lake, Salisbury, Lexington Hotels - BE AWARE

I just want to give a WARNING to anglers considering fishing High Rock Lake and staying in the hotels in the area. A bunch of trucks were broken into, windows smashed and vehicles ransacked. I was one of them. It's the worst thing to wake up to on tournament morning.

10 vehicles at my hotel alone were broken into. Many hotels along I-85 between Salisbury and Lexington were targeted. They even broke into the BFL tournament directors truck. It honestly feels like a coordinated plan. Like they knew a tournament was going on and they wanted to hit as many trucks as possible.

Salisbury PD said they're targeting trucks and outdoorsman because they sometimes have firearms in their vehicles and thats what they want along with anything like laptops, cash, etc. They're hitting hotels along the I-85 highway so they can get in and out quickly. So just be careful regarding where you stay. Going forward I'll probably spend more money and just try to get an Air BNB house instead of a hotel in the area.

That just sucks. Years ago a group of us fished together in TX and we all threw in $20 and hired an off duty PD to put his car in the lot, then we said anyone who had to get up and pee (yes, we were fun fishing and had some beer to drink at night) should step out of their room and make some noise. We never had an issue.

I don't understand why people don't treat this like deer hunting. Put some bait out, wait and squeeze the trigger. It aint all that hard.

You should be allowed to protect your property with force . Thing is the police see and know this is happening . Why dont they protect or sting the area . The motels should provide security . No excuse not to .

A buddy had his truck broken into in that area. They hit a bunch of trucks between 2 hotels. They got a benchmade knife and 2 pistols. Fast forward a month later, they busted a kid in Charlotte with both guns. He got those back, but nothing on the knife. Lesson learned, don’t keep anything in your truck you don’t wanna see stolen….

Why doesnt the motel provide security . Most newer vehicles have alarms . If you have fifteen or twenty five anglers at a motel pitch in ten or fifteen bucks and hire a security officer . The crooks are looking for quick steals . Guns , knives , laptops , fishing equipment etc . Take everything out of your truck . Leave your doors unlocked . May save your windows from being smashed .

Also as far as I know the LOC-R-BAR is still available . I dont know why anglers dont use them . Would really protect the equipment in your boat .

Loc-r-bar doesn't keep your truck windows from being smashed and belongings taken. These thieves dont seem to care about fishing gear.

They want fast cash wether it be by stealing cash, coins, guns, laptops, rings or anything worth selling for a fast buck. Maybe they want to Glock 40 3rd generation right in the chest cavity stealing from me.
