Foreword: It's like sex the first time...It'll go by so quick you wont remember much! And later you will be embarrassed that it only took mere seconds.
things to remember:
1. The trolling motor is on the front (bow) of the boat, cut on that end.
2. The location you want to cut is on the opposite end of the boat from the big motor.
seriously......... pencil mark where you think you want the control to be... go fishing....fish all day....note the location of the foot control as you fish.....also note the routing of the control cable in relation to DF and switches in the bow of the boat.... remember that the contact surface of the control is going to be level with the boat deck. Go home and mark the deck with a sharpie while using the template supplied with the tray. Cut the carpet and mark again.
3. Drink 6 beers (for courage) drill the corners with a Forster bit.... and cut the hole using a quality jig saw.......I can loan you one....make sure you have a good rasp file to enlarge the hole if necessary (I sometimes have to use one of those when I'm with a strange woman).....drill (I like the word "drill") and countersink the flange for the attachment screws.....screw it down
How simple is that? I mean, if you mess up, you can always go buy another boat!
