    Wilson in August...

I hope today wasn't a precursor of next Saturday!

I got out on the lake at "first light" and went to one of my more productive topwater areas and threw a buzzbait and Pop-R until I thought my arm was going to fall off without even a blow-up. I figured, "What the heck!" and went to my fall back areas without a bite there, either. Fished my favorite brushpiles and hooked up with a small 12" largemouth on a Texas rig, only to lose it at the boat as I was swinging it in. Spent the next six hours throwing crankbaits and Carolina rigs on my best deep water stuff without even a bump.

Eight hours in the boat without a single fish just totally sucks!!! At this rate, I ought to just hand over my $30 at the ramp and go back home and take a nap until weigh-in time!

AveryF you can hand it to me. I fished Wilson for the first time last Saturday and only caught 5 keepers all day but I don't any better.

Oh man I'm in deep trouble. What was the water temp Avery?

I was in Florence on Tue. and Wed. checking out the new Marriott Hotel and I drove by the ramp so I can find it Sat. morning. I came up Hwy 157/101 and found that to be a good route to travel. Should be even better in the wee hours Sat. morning.

Man, that Dam Bridge sure is skinny. Don't know how those 18 wheelers passed each other on that bridge but they did. I'm just glad they got by me without crunching my Jeep.

    Re: Wilson in August... (Challenger84)

The surface water temperature was in the 86 to 90 degree range for the most part yesterday. I don't see it dropping any between now and next Saturday, either, even though the weather forcast calls for a reasonable (30%+) chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms for most of the next week. I'm ready for summer to be over! Of course, I believe we were all hoping for summer to hurry up and get here when we were fishing on Lay back in December.....

    .....or Guntersville in January.....

Some of us just can't be pleased, can we?!?

well I think Harry will be happy. I think she is going to fish out alot like Smith when its hot There have been several big sacks out of there this year but with this heat and the added bonus of a full moon Friday night The bite I think is going to be brutal. Hopefully they will rip some water and that will help greatly. Avery is the favorite since it's his back yard. I am just going to follow Avery and fish the drag bite
