    Tr-21X Trolling motor shaft length

Hey guys, I've been reading this great forum for a while and luv the great advice from everyone. I was just wondering what shaft length guys were running on their trolling motors. I just purchased an 05 Tr-21X and it had a 62" MK on it which is way to long for me! I am planning to get the 80# Fortrex and was wondering if the 45" shaft would work ok with the X hull.(Want the shortest length possible) Thanks for the help!

Depends on the water and environmental conditions you fish. I have had the 45 but not enough shaft for fishing Kentucky lake on a windy day. My preference is the 50. It's a little long on most days but when the wind kicks up and the smallies are munching on points you'll be glad you have it..

Great boat, you will love it!

45 is great for most conditions but like SMG said, the 50 works better in the bigger water.

I can tell you that I have the 45 inch model on my 21X, sits in water all I need it to and still about 4-5" of shaft to go. If needed in slightly rougher water, I can lower for more bite. Perfect 99% of the time in my small lakes. Only time I need more shaft length (quiet swerve) is when I am fishing in big water, you know, when the waves are breaking over the bow. Btw, in the X boat that takes a darn big wave to do that.

I have allways used a 52 inch on my rigs and love them, i do fish a lot of open water and most of the time i leave the t.m. as low as it will go in the water, makes a huge difference in rough water. If u fish mainlyu in bays where u don't have to fish the big open water the 45 is the way to go, the Fortrex does not come any shorter than a 45 inch shaft.
