    2007 TR 196 - Need Help!

I know this will sound stupid but I cannot locate the kill switch on this boat. The lanyard was in the boat when I bought it but I can not figure out where the kill switch is to attach it.

Also, can the passenger console be removed? If so, will it leave an ugly mess?

    Thanks guys.

It should be the little red lever by the shifter.

Get on the floor and look under the shifter.

Thanks for the suggestions, but it is not under the shifter. The lanyard has a strange end that looks like a very small cup with a slot removed. It doesn't have a toggle switch like my last boat did?????

    Anyone have this model?

You should find what looks like a small black button that is raised in the middle. The clip you are talking about, holds the button in the middle in the depressed position.

I think if you depress the ignition key, like you were going to choke it, this will slide around it to hold it in.

I think it was originally part of the key switch...maybe. But the boat will crank without it in place and it does not seem to fit the key switch either pressed in or out. Could it be that the switch was removed? If anyone has this boat and motor I would really appreciate a picture...

I need to get it figured out before tourney time...

Turn ignition to on. Pull out on key. You should have a groove to slide it into with flat side toward you. Its the second picture on this address.

I told u wrong. I was back on my friends boat today. Put key in. Push on it and slide the kill switch over part of ignition switch you push in.

That is whats known as a man overboard feature so if the dtiver is thrown out the passenger can move the boat over to pick him up. with the key pushed in the U shaped piece will fit over the piece that moves in and hold it down. With the key turned on and the clip removed the spring will turn the switch off. The clip fits with the small opening up and the large opening down.

Must be some old controls because they have not used those type in years, There should be a black button that poushes and the kill switch slides over it.

This is what it should look like if it's for a Evinrude.
