2001 Trailer questions

I bought this 2001 TR19 in Oct and for several reasons not related to fishing, I have not had it out much at all. I have a few questions.

1) Why is it such a PITA to get the flip over latch to actually latch onto the ball so it locks and I can put the pin in? I have to raise the gear up and down to make the ball sit just right and get it to latch. It takes about 20-30 mins of pure cussing.

2) I know it has to be out of brake fluid as it seems the brakes are not working. On the slider part by the swing out clip..the black cover is partially covered too...I was told this needs pulled out and add fluid. If there is no fluid..will that have fried anything?

3) what type of bearings these trailers have? I serviced my Skeeter as they had the old style and I have not taken the wheels off this one to check it yet.

The trailer makes not grinding or sqealing sounds...but it does make some complaining noises at times and when I first take off..there is like a slack in the trailer before it goes. Stop lights...etc...I gas on it...then jerk...the trailer goes. This can't be the norm. I wanna get this boat/trailer right for this year. Thanks.

Put your shoulder into the boat and give it a nudge back. It won't lock if the coupler isn't extended fully. Sometimes I get in and move the truck ahead an inch and it just will fall into place.

anyone sell the A60 actuator as a unit? I wonder how much one of those could be.

That jerk you feel is normal with surge brakes. You should feel it a little bit, if it's a hard jerk, I would just go through your brake lines and check everything, maybe there is a pinched line, brake pads are shot, no oil.
