Powerpole or Talon on a tin rig?

I have been looking at Minnkota Talon's for my Ranger Cherokee aluminum. Do I have to have a jackplate to install one? Has anyone seen a Powerpole or Talon on a boat without a jackplate?

You can mount it right to the hull or you can get a bracket that goes between the transom and the motor! Dont need a jack plate but it would help with performance! Cheers

+1, install using a bracket that goes between the transom and motor. IMO much better than drilling permanent holes through the transom and no need for a jackplate. Sorry, don't have a close up picture but this should give you the idea.

Im putting a Power Pole Sportsman 2 on a Triton 176 Magnum Tin boat this weekend. I contacted Triton and they actually recommended not adding a jackplate due to adding too much stress to the transom. I ordered the Port side 2-3 Brkt for mine. It will mount between the transom and motor. It comes with a shim for the opposite side as well. The new Sportsman 2 will come with the C-Monster remote and wireless dash switch now as well. When I looked into purchasing the Talon or the Power Pole, Power Pole was cheaper by a couple hundred dollars. I needed the ability to lower the pole down to get it in the garage. Would have had to purchase the accessory tilt brkt for the Talon.
