96 Evinrude FICHT 150 PLUG FOULING

I have had this motor in the shop several times and when they connect it to a computer analysis, it shows them a plug is fouled.
When I bring the boat and motor home and put it on the lake, it runs great the whole day and will get up on pad. I let it sit overnight and get up the next morning and it misses badly and when you try to take it out and get on pad, it just kills the engine. I take it back to the shop and it shows the plug is fouled again, and when you look at the plug, it is deffinately fouled. Is this engine somehow getting moisture somewhere and hindering the plugs or do you have any other suggestions since i have had it at a service shop several times and they just keep telling me they have no idea why its doing it.

Have they run a compression test yet? or better yet how about a leakdown test???? That's the first thing that comes to mind when you are getting the same thing with fouled plugs!!

Ask your "mechanic" if the fouled plug is on one of the cylinders that supplies the crankcase pulse to the diaphragm operated oil pump?

Did he do a pressure test on the injector to rule out rich running, and did he check the spark gap jump test to see if the coil and rest of the ignition system is putting out like it should?

What was the compression reading on that cyl.?

That is what I was thinking but if you go back and read the original post you will see that they had it hooked up to the computer so that leads me to believe that it is a Ficht just not a 96

Look at the topic pinned at the top of the page. When asking questions about motor diagnosis a engine model and serial number would be a big help. For those that don't know where to find that info look on the motor mount near the trim pumps. You will see a plate with all the info about your motor on it...engine family, model number, serial number, suggested spark plug gap and suggested octane fuel
