2000 Javelin Renegade 18

I am looking at this boat and curious of opinions.

Cosmetic issues: 1. Series of small scrapes from rubbing on a dock while tied.
2. Paint chipping off of lower unit. (Is this normal for motor?)
Nothing indicates it has hit anything, just looks like the
paint is failing.
3. Needs new tires.
4. Needs Transom saver.
5. Going ahead and guessing it needs all three batteries.

Motor: 1. Oil tank has been disconnected and fuel is mixed manually. I
understand that this is semi-popular. Is it easy to make sure the
oil pump works even thought it's unhooked?

2. There is a crackling noise in the tilt when you first push it up. Is
this the tilt motor?

Welcome to the BBC! I'd have to see more pics but I would think the paint off the lower unit would be normal, depending on how much is off.

The crackling noise in the tilt is most likely the balls on the end of the rams.....if they get dry (no grease), they can make a heck of a racket. Little bit of grease rubbed into them and no more sound.

Seems like a good price if you can get it for $5000.
Take it for a ride and decided. Have someone check the motor and lower unit out. Paint chipping is usually from replacing the lu and having it painted. Replaced my lu and painted it and the paint won't stay on.
New tires and batteries are maintenance so your going to have to replace them at some point. You figure $400-$500 for these to be replaced and getting $1000 off the boat, its worth it.
