Help with a hose connection please

Maybe a dumb question...I have a 2009 294 XLE. I'm winterizing my boat this weekend. There's a connection on the starboard side of the boat, behind the driver's seat on the edge of the hull. It just has a plastic cap on it. What is this inlet for? It has a filter screen and looks like a garden hose will fit on it. I am assuming that this is used to flush something, but what? Do I just need to have the drain plug out if I use it? If I do use it, do I then have to put air through it to prevent freezing over the winter?

    Thanks!

Yes, it's on the top cap, but there's a cap on it. Should I have that cap off if it's the fuel tank vent? Otherwise it won't vent very well. Glad I didn't attach a hose to it. I couldn't find anything in the Stratos manual or online either.

This is a stock photo from the Stratos website, bit I have circled the offending orifice and have an arrow pointing to it.

They must have made a lot of boats with this exact color scheme, because here's a pic of my boat. You can see the black plastic cap behind the driver's seat.

vent for the fuel tank, do not flush anything in there!!..
and no, do not take that vent cap that off, the tank needs to vent.

The screen it vents from is on the bottom part of that deal. Im sure the black cap is to keep water from getting in.

Well, that's why I asked! Thanks all. I took the cap off and took a sniff, and sure enough, there was a gas smell. I've been curious about that thing for two years now and always forget to ask someone. Cheers.
