My steering wheel has a lot of wobble and I was looking to try and tighten it up. Does anyone know how to do this? I took the center cap off as well as the big nut in the middle, but that is as far as I can get.

Do you have tilt steering? Is the steering wheel loose, or the steering shaft has a lot of play?
With the center cap off. I can see the steering shaft and it is solid on the wheel. The wheel and the steering shaft move.
Yes there is tilt steering.
It is a bad tilt steering helm. Have had to replace a couple myself. Nothing to do to fix it, only replace it. Since it is a 2010, I would contact Teleflex ( I assume it is a Teleflex helm) and see what they will do to help you.

either that or the screw at the tilt is loose ,may have vibrated loose
some how.
I diassembled mine and knurled the shaft on a lathe, tightened it right back up. From what I saw, it is not a dangerous situation. There is a tiny bit of play between the shaft and the bushing the shaft rides on but by the time you attach a wheel, the play is magnefied at the end of the steering wheel moving the wheel back and forth.

He's right. There are 2 allen head screws that hold the shafts together at the pivot and they have been known to vibrate loose. You have to pull the wheel, then take off the black plastic shroud and you can get to them. If these are loose, they need to be fixed, they can back out and make the steering stick.
If everything is tight, then it is not a safety issue from the slop, just an annoyance. It is usually caused from pulling yourself out of the drivers seat using the steering wheel.
I guarantee this is what your fix is![]()
Did you get it fixed?
I tried and could not. I blew my SHO so while its at the dealer I told them to fix it. Thanks for asking though.
