    02 stratos 200

I'm looking at one tonight to maybe purchase. From what I've read it's a javelin with stratos stickers after they phased out javelin. It has a Yamaha 200 vmax on it. It also gas a tandem trailer with a swing away tongue. What should I expect speed wise? What's the ride like? Are these solid hulls in the long run? How do they turn at speed? I've driven boats that you better not try to turn at full speed with the motor trimmed up. I hope this one isn't that way. My tritons have always handled great so I'm hoping this hull is comparable. The asking price is 12500. Does this seem fair assuming it's in good condition?

    Thanks!

It handles like a sports car, takes rough water very good, dry ride, you should see high 60's maybe 70 loaded to fish with the 200. One of the best Strat/Jav hulls ever. Price seems ok if the boats clean and motor is in good shape. If its got dated electronics, and trolling motor maybe offer less. Dont forget to verify all pumps and valves operate as they should, check the age on the batts, and trlr tires.

I love my 08. It does ride well. With the 200 I'd expect you to see high 60's maybe 70 if it's set up right. Take it for a ride and have the engine checked by a qualified mechanic.... Dan

    Re: 02 stratos 200 (Dan200xl)

I have had a 285pxl and a 201pxl and they both handle very well. My 201 is a heviev hull and if i try to turn extremly sharp when trimmed up it will spin out on me. But the 200 has a lighter hull and should not spin out on you. I had my 285 for several years and fished in lake Erie several times a year and even it handles well. So you should have no problem with the 200.

High 60's everyday of the week.

I would definetaly take the boat on a test ride. Maybe unscrew the lower unit gear screw to see if there is any water or metal in the oil. Make sure you have adequete water pressure. But beside that you should be good.

Sounds like not to bad of a deal if it is in good shape.

Lets see some pics if you get it.

    Thanks guys!

I'm gonna go walk around it tonight. Maybe I'll get a chance to run it this weekend. If it checks out I'll be glad but if not then it just wasn't in Gods will for me right now.
