1993 Stratos w/150 Johnson question

Hello,
I have been experiencing a bit of trouble with my motor. It will start right up, seems to idle OK and runs great at the upper RPM range, where I am having issues is at low RPM in gear. It seems to have a miss and every so often coughs. As soon as you give it throttle she comes up on plane and goes like crazy. Has anyone else experienced this or can offer any insight.
