A friend of mine is looking at a 91' Ranger with a 175 Johnson Faststrike. The dealer did a compression test, 90lbs on all six. Is this a good reading, seems low to me. Motor is said to run good and idles good. Any pros or cons on this motor?Thanks in advance
What year motor? Mine has about 90 to 100. Was it a warm compression test?

I was not there when test was done. Boat is a 91 so I would assume the motor to be a early 90's model.
If it is a 91 Fast Strike 175 it ought to be stout, those were tuned a little on the hot side.
See if he can test drive it and see how it runs. The compression is the same on all 6, so that is a pretty good sign.
