around here in tennesse they came in handy. all boat ramps different here.
are the solid style somehow technically superior?

Heck yah, especially if you use a boat buddy, like me. They didn't work very well on the spring-loaded ones.![]()
They seemed to work well when hand cranking a boat on the trailer...But when driving on i found they bend pretty easy
I love mine, my bud with a 21' triton could sure use it as his boat is a real pain on most launches. He has back up a little bit at a time to crank and get boat on the roller right, if he had one like mine he would have no problems.
I never power load only idle on then just crank a few times. Power loading messes up the smaller lake launches around here real bad, I will say however my 270 is much easier than the big boats.
around here during the winter, the steeper ramps are a pain.
didn't know they would bend. guess that would be a deal killer.
gettin ready to find out myself, my skeeters all had solid, now i have a javelin and it has the spring. may end up changing it out to solid, dont know yet.
Dealt with this roller setup for 14 on my old Javelin. Only time I had any issues was on a certain ramp that was a little steep. Had to have the trailer backed in just right to get the bow over the roller. Just be mindful when loading to make sure you have the boat winched up all the way so the spring-arm doesn't move around.

I never did bend my spring style on my 96 288 stratos. I wish mine now had it also!
Still on the original one here with no problems, I really like them especially on shallow ramps.![]()

No bending problems with mine either. Just need to make sure the bow is winched up all the way.
