    HDS-5 in 294

Anyone tried to put an HDS-5 in the bow panel of a 294 Evo? Think of replacing the 520 with an HD unit.

I believe that's the same dash panel as my 200PXL. Lowrance, in their infinite wisdom, made the HD units slightly larger than the older units. I had to get the Dremel tool out to enlarge the opening and even then it doesn't fit flush like the old unit did. I also had to revise the mounting bracket.

Yeah, I thought they were bigger. It would have been nice if they would have made them the same size. Thanks for the info.

I have a 294xl and replaced my 520 with a HDS5. Had to cut just a little of the fiberglass away but wasen't a problem.

Tony - I believe the HDS 5 will fit in the Evolution. I could be wrong in my thinking, but if memory serves me correct we made the opening a little larger than we actually needed just in case the cases changed. As we all know that's exactly what happened too. If I am wrong, we have the panel for your dash that will accept the HDS 5 in stock. Your dealer should have no issues ordering one for you.

Jason I tried the HDS-5 in the panel up front and it will not fit. I would have to cut into the vinyl to get it to fit. Do you a bow panel that will accept an HD5? I have my console unit on a ram mount.
