    2007 Stratos 275xl.....need opinions

    I am looking at a 2007 275xl stratos......has 115 evinrude etec....minn kota trolling motor.

    Here is the ad:

2007 Stratos Bass Boat.. 115 HP Evinrude E-Tech, 24 volt minn. trolling motor. Main motor has another 4 years on the warranty from Evinrude. Has a Hummingbird 997 side imaging fish finder with transducer up front and interlink ready for a second unit to be pluged in and used. Aurora Canvas Boat Cover

He is finding the amount of hours on the engine but he said very low, he only fishes small lakes and ponds, lives in Massachusetts.

He has is up for 18k but I am trying to get it for 15k. Let me know what you think.

Is this boat tournament ready? How are the livewells? Stable in rough weather? Quality hull? I am getting rid of my older ranger for this, so I am worried about the quality of the build and the stability of the company, I read somewhere they were going through rough financial issues?

Re: 2007 Stratos 275xl.....need opinions (SenkoSensei)

Lets see if I can help a little. Stratos is a good boat and no longer going through financial crisis. Stratos was owned by genmar which owned ranger, stratos and champion along with other boat makes. these 3 were bought by Platinum equity. PE closed the stratos plant in TN and moved production to the ranger plant in AR. they also elimiated the champ brand and merged the champ hulls into the stratos brand (the elite series )

For the 275xl I think the price is to high. check out NADA for the value. I own a 2007 275xl with a 115 optimax. I paid 17k for it brand new in early 09. the HB998 adds some value so if it were me and I wanted it I would offer 14-15k if it was in perfect condition with very low hours. if any scratches on it at all or more than 50-100 hours and I would offer even less.

As far as is it tourney ready; well a jon boat with a livewell is tourney ready . It is still only a 17'er it is super wide though so it is very stable. it is also pretty fast for a 17'er 50mph on the gps. livewells is plenty big never had a problem. I fish some small local tourneys with a partner and we hold our own.

the 275 is a pretty darn nice boat, the lay out is very nice!...seems a bit high though on the price.

I have same year '07 boat/motor except with Motorguide 24v.

18K is too high in my opinion. I got mine used with very low hours and full warranty in '09 and paid 15k.

    Likes:
    - very stable
    - lots of room for a 17 footer
    - plenty of storage
    - does ok in rough water
    - no problems with livewell
    - no problems with hull or things coming apart
    - easy to trailer
    - fits in my 20' garage!

    Dislikes:
    - slight gas smell in the lockers
    - too heavy for a 115 (the width is great for fishing, but not for performance)
    - hard to prop correctly because of the boat weight
    - the console guages are hidden directly behind the steering wheel
    - you're not going to break any speed records

Overall I LOVE the boat. I just wish I had a bigger garage to get a bigger boat, but for now it's perfect. Top speed around 50 gps and hard to get on plane with full livewells depending on how you're propped. The Etec 115 HO or a Opti 125 would be better for this boat.

What prop comes with the boat?

I'll be glad to answer any other questions you have.

I have a 2007 275 also but with a 90 hp Yamaha and it runs well it is tourney ready. I might make you a deal on it if your interested. These are very stable and fishable boats.
