Yep as amazing as it may sound you will be loosing a few mph. Any good prop shop in your area can fix you up.

    Re: skeg guard (rlayne0002)

My boat runs right at 60mph. I put the "Skeggard" on mine for a quick fix until I could get my skeg repaired. That was a year ago. I have not replaced it. My boat ran 60 mph before and 60 mph after the install of the "Skeggard". I can see where you might loose speed if you are talking 70+ but I can personally tell you it did not make a difference on a 60 mph boat. You can see my signature for what boat I put it on.
I have seen several people post positive and negative on speed effects. When I put it on my boat it was just going to be a "temp" fix but have not had an issue and figured why spend extra money until I have to. The other thing was it was Spring fishing and not fortunate like alot of these other fellas that have great dealerships that will fix the skeg or welders they trust..... I don't know a welder that I trust and my local dealerships want to put a new case on the foot for about $1k.
    Good luck on your decision.

Grant --most prop shops will tell you they'll have to pull the guts outta' the lower unit to put that tig on the skeg and attach it... I'll tell you that there's someone at C & O Marine in White Bluff, Tn that does it the old fashioned way, nice and slow, so it doesn't heat up the entire lower unit ...doing it that way will save you considerably....you will need to change the lower unit oil afterwards .... I'd give C & O Marine a call or shoot 'em and email if nothing else but for peace of mind...tight lines...
