    30 HP E-tech question

Full Disclosure; I'm a Mercury guy in my personal life through and through. But I'm also a Tulsa Fire Captain and assigned to a "Boat Station". We have recently taken delivery of 3 new boats equipped the 30HP tiller E-techs. We have been given conflicting info about the two pin holes on the port side of the L/U. One dealer says no need to plug those when running the boats in the station on suction cups, and another says we should put tape over those two holes when running them out of the water.

What's the purpose of those holes? And how should be cooling these motors when performing our weekly checks?

Thanks in advance from the dark side.....Mick

Page 55 of your operators manual, i would suggest everyone who is going to be operating the engine to read the operators manual. Yes cover holes.

I personally run mine from the flush port on the back of the motor. Enough water is back fed into the impeller to keep it lubricated when doing this, this is also the way you see it done in all of BRPs instructional videos and is recommended in the operators manual.

Thank You; city doesn't sent operators manuals out with firetrucks, or boats.
