What's that front gas switch do on a 1990 201 pro?

I should have asked this question when I asked about the size of the tanks but just figuring one thing out at a time taxes me sometimes.
Ok, I got that switch in the back to switch tanks and I assume that's just a manual fuel valve that changes the fuel coming from one tank to the other. What is that electric type fuel port/starboard switch on the drivers right panel do?
(They taught me in the Air Force that port is on the left because port and left have fewer letters than right and starboard.

That switch shows how much fuel is in each tank. It flips the gauge between the 2 tanks. Each tank is read independantly on those models. Do you have the manual push pull switch mounted to right rear side of the drivers seat? Those are discontinued if so and cant be replaced. If so make sure to keep the cable lubed and never force it to move.

I have an 89 201 pro. the valve for the tanks is back by the motor (you know what). the switch on the pannel by your livewell switches is for the gauge. flip it when you switch tanks so you know how much is in the one you are using. port for the port side tank, starboard for the starboard tank. truthfully, I wish that boat had one tank under the seat in the middle of the boat so you would have more storage.
