looked at a 2000 javelin renegade 20 today, couple questions

I didn't see the transom knee braces that I have seen recommended for this boat. The tac didn't work. And there was some minor gelcoat issues. It has a 225 johnson ho on it. Would this boat be worth 10,500?

Also the motor wouldn't run today, well it idled but when put in gear it stalled out. Multiple times we tried to keep it running but no luck.

I offered the guy 7500 as is but he wouldn't bite. If the motor gets fixed, what's it worth?

    i bought a 1999 javelin DC Renegade 20 with a 225 last year....

    Dealer was asking 10,500

Ended up getting it for 8500.... Motor blew 4th time out.... Ran like a cherry until the rod popped thru the case...

I would get the motor checked out by a mechanic..... I have seen other renegades(similar years) go for around 7500....

Seems a little steep for the condition you described. Based on some of the prices I've seen for similar rigs over the last 8-10 months, He'll be lucky to get 9500 for it. Curious as to your comment about the "recommended" knee braces. Where'd you hear that?

lousyfisher, i have the same boat. I'd say its worth it, but of course i'm biased, it really is a great boat though. You wouldn't be disappointed. I've seen two of these sale this spring, both right at 10. Rides great, good in rough water, plenty of room, very stable and the 225HO pushes it great (74 gps). If i were to sale mine (i'm not...), i'd say 9000-9500 is what i'd hope to get and mine is in pretty darn good shape.

The HO loves gas but is a solid motor. Definitly have it checked out though. If it isn't started in while or its really cold mine does take a few cranks but after letting it warm up, its good to go all day.

As for the knee braces on the transom, they supposedly weren't included in the first production run and they started having problems from the get go so they started putting the knees in mid way through. Some owners/dealers took them back and the factory installed them free of charge. Supposedly you can tell the ones that were re-done due to a slightly different coloring in the re-paint of that area (i have not witnessed this, everyone i have seen, including mine, has them).

Dont know if any of this helps.......
