Timer on Recir pump for Livewells

I have a 1996 295 Pro and was wanting to know if anyone has put a timer on the Recir pumps for the livewell or do they just leave them on all day while fishing? I have a timer on the bow for the aerator (spelling?) pumps that have a 2-4-6 timer to pump in fresh water but was thinking I might want one on the Recir pump just to recir the livewell water. Or do I just leave the system like it is and leave the recir pumps on all the time while I have fish? Thanks for any insight on the subject.

Re: Timer on Recir pump for Livewells (mtdrop)

i put mine on 6 and let it run all day. well i leave the livewell open at first until i put a couple of fish on both sides. then i close them off and recirculate. when the water warms up i put it on 2 and put stay alive in the water. i never loose fish doing this. the only way i loose a fish is if i hook it to deep.
