    Jackplate or not Javelin 379T

I recently purchased a Javelin 379T 150 fast strike combo and the previous owner gave me a manual (looks like 6") plate with it. He said that it was on the boat when he purchased it but didn't like the way the boat handled and was told to take it off. I was debating about putting it back on because I was under the impression that the jackplate should help the performance on most boats. A friend of mine that used to have a 379 also told me to leave it off. He said the way the 379 hull is made that it handles lots better without one. He had taken the one off of his also. Any opinions? So far two say no jackplate..........

It probably handles better because the motor is too low, not letting the boat perform the way it should. I would put it on there and be prepared to "drive" it.

Thanks bassoutlaw. I bet you are right and neither one could actually drive the boat to its potential with the jackplate.

Just out of curiousity...what is the prop shaft to pad measurement as the boat sits now???

My friend had that same javelin , he put a jack plate on it and it took a little seat time to learn drive it but very little time it was worth it , it was about 5miles an hour faster and it handled better once he got used to it, throw it on and learn how to drive it you'll love it. I promise.....
