My control box is original from 1991 (was paired with a 1990 150hp) Surface mount box. Never any issues. Last week, it would not crank until I wiggled the handle. Pulling it back and motor fired normally. Yesterday I had to do it twice. So I have few questions:
1. Is a replacement switch available, and is it hard to change?
2. Should I leave it alone and just wiggle it when needed?
3. If I'm out and wiggling will not help, is there a way to bypass it to get me back to the ramp?
4. I have another control box in garage, but don't have a key for it. Is there a way to look up and get a replacement key for this extra box?
Concealed side mount or surface mount? Chrome handle or plastic handle? If you look closely at the ignition switch on the spare you'll see two numbers, those are the key numbers your dealer will/should have a replacement key in stock. The switch may just be loose.
Thank you ChamioNman. Anything to watch out for when I pull the back off. Plan to unmounts from boat, lay it over handle down and remove back plate, to see if switch mount might be loose. Is that okay, or will things be trying to pop out of place. Don't want to make a bigger mess.
