OK, I wanna be sure I am not looking for more than I should expect out of my rig. I just got an 06 201XL w/ a 225 Yamaha. It has a Hydro jack plate, and is loaded w/ all the cool stuff. I love it. I was expecting it to be smooth and fast, its only smooth. Here is what I have tried while running Guntersville during a local club tourney,
Each scenerio Boat w/ 1/2 tank, livewells empty, tournament weight w/ 2 guys and gear, all speeds GPS;
27p prop, j/p bottomed out, trimmed to the sky = 64 mph, no chine, no rooster tail
27p prop, j/p up 1", (3.25 below pad)trimmed to the top= 65.5, a little chine, no rooster tail
27p prop, j/p up 2" (2.25" below pad), trimmed to the top= 65.8 mph, giant rooster tail, no chine again
27p prop, j/p up 3", (1.25 below pad) trimmed to the top= 64 mph, chine like a mofo but 16 psi still
27p prop, j/p up 4", (.25 below pad) trimmed all the way up= 64.7 mph, no chine again, 15 psi
25p prop, j/p up 1", trimmed up to the top= 68 mph, no chine, no rooster
25p prop, j/p up 2", trimmed all the way up= 69.8mph, a little chine, no rooster tail at all
25p prop, j/p up 3", trimmed all the way up= 67.5 mph, more chine, big rooster
So, how fast can I get this boat to run? All my buddies have similar set ups w/ skeeter, ranger, or bass cat and go mid 70s. Heck there is a 20' stratos w/ a 200 and a skeeter w/ a 200 that are low 70s. I know I can go to 1/4" increments on the j/p, and being hydro is a blessing and a curse. I read a million set ups looking for one similar, and it seems to be that mine is slow.
What can I do?
