201 pro
I have a question I have an older 201 with a 200 evinrude xp
i am trying to find on the block the actual size beacuse I just bought the boat
the cover says 200 but we gps the boat last weekend and it would run well up into the 70's which is seemingly impossible to me for this boat on a 200
26 pitch prop My father has had alot of fast boats and only was able to run high
70,s with a 225 and a 250 I asked the original owner and all he told was the
engine had been overhauled and was really fast .I am thinking the powerhead is a
larger than a 200 the cover rubbs all the way till it is locked

Re: 201 pro (stratojoe)
Not sure what year you have but with the right setup it will run 69-72 depending on load

Re: 201 pro (stratojoe)
The 200 xp is a strong 200...More like 215-220.They were meant for bassboats and had all the goodies that the 225's did not.Same engine block, the covers fit tight.Watch your spark plug wires when installing the cover. Some popular mods were to gut the airbox, rejet the carbs for the increased airflow, and up the compression.I would check the airbox and the compression, you may need to run premium. You're looking for a wide open airbox and compression #'s higher than 110 psi. Also don't trust your speedo - only gps!
