    285 XL....prop question

I am currently running a 23M prop on my vmax 150 (2007 stratos 285 XL) and am hitting about 5800-5900 RPM's. I am about to install a jackplate and am wondering if I am going to need to change props. What would be the best prop for this setup for top end speed?

Don't know where you are at (not in your profile), but depending on elevation and the load you carry you may be able to turn a 25M. I ran a 25 Tempest on my 285.

I recently fitted an 8" JP to my 285/Verado set-up. With the same 23p Trophy Plus I had severe over-revving and a lot less speed. I went up to a 26p which is probably 1" too much, and got my revs down and my speed up.

I am in Texas. I am just worried that I am going to be turning to many RPM's now. I tourny fish so I have usually have two guys and a full load of gear in the boat. So if a 25 pitch prop is what I should go to then which one is the best? Thanks

25M and Tempest are a toss up......one may be better on one but and worse on the next.......the M sheds blades much more often than the Tempest......probably the Tempest.

23 TXP will really wake that hull up. It did for me...

I ran a Croxtonized 23P Turbo and a 25 P tempest plus. The 23 P was a better low to mid range prop but i did get a mph or so more out of the Tempest. I left the 23P on the rig when i sold it as i thought is was a better prop for that boat.
