Adding another battery to my 200 xl???

I'm swiching to a 36 volt trollling motor system on my 2005 200XL w/225 HO Etec.

    1. Due to the limited area in the back, where would be the best place to mount the fourth battery?

    2. When fully tourny loaded...full live wells, 2 people, etc, the boat is kind of a dog out of the hole. Should I expect the hole shot to be even worse or no different with the added extra weight of another battery?

I would expect it to be maybe a little slower, but not too much worse. What does the battery weigh you are putting in?
If it is going to be that bad maybe go and have the prop worked by Mark or another reputable shop.

I've got 4 in mine. 2 are on the passenger side, the other 2 in the middle over all the pumps/bilge area. I can probably get you a pic of it this weekend if that would help.

A pic would sure help if not too much trouble. thanks

I'm currently running a stock 28 raker II that was reccomended at the dealer...great top end but sluggish out of the hole when the boat is loaded.

Maybe someone could chime in with the same boat and motor set up (2005 Pro XL, 2005 225 Etec HO) with the extra battery weight and give a prop reccomendation thats working for them Thanks all...great site!!!

I run a 28 Raker with the PVS holes and it's not too bad in the summertime. Loaded down it's going to be sluggish, but not terrible. I usually run a 27 Tempest in the summer to help. It's a little bit better. Either way, you're really only adding 50-60lbs with the extra battery. It's not going to make a whole lot of difference.

I'll work on the pic for you.

the fourth battery fits ok but remember if your boat is like mine it only has a three bank charger,i set mine up were the boats charger handled the trolling motor batteries and i used a seperated pluc in charger for the starter battery.as far as the weight it did make a big diffrence but the problem was solved by putting a diffrent size/pitch prop-goood luck

Here's the pics of my rear compartment. 2 TM batteries on the left and the 3rd TM battery and cranking battery in the center. There's a platform below the two center batteries that goes over the bilge area. I also have the factory 3 bank charger mounted just forward of the oil tank. I added a single bank for the cranking battery instead of swapping the 3 bank charger for a 4 bank (plus I already had the single bank charger). It's a tight fit, but it fits.

A 27 Tempest would help your hole shot out a lot good buddy, may not be quite as fast on top end but it would be real close especially with a heavy load in your boat.

And to add those are all group 27 batteries. The previous owner had set it up for the 36V TM.
