    Is Stratos in financial trouble?

I read in the lounge a couple of days ago that Stratos could be in real trouble, and that it may even be shut down. Does anyone over here have any other news about this. I wasn't 100% sure if it was accurate news, but it sounded BAD.

It was bad.... some good folks got laid off. As far as Stratos goes, I don't see anything to worry about. If they have problems, so will Ranger, Champion and probably several others. Tough economy, tough times right now.

I firmly believe the Genmar brands are going to remain in business. Some tough calls have to be made, but the news is going to report whatever gets the most sensational attention.

Other companies have laid off many more than Genmar has, yet they somehow have escaped the news....

They are just like other companys going through this. They have to cut down
    and cut back.

Just a courious question: IF Genmar had to cut back to the point of elimination one of their brands, which would it be? All of their brands seem to be fairly strong but I don't know which has the greater market share.

Lea won't like to hear this, but it would be Champion. Anyone that has access to sales figures will see which companies have the best sales and are the most profitable.

This bit of bad news is nothing compared to what Triton and others have laid off and cut back to. Business decisions have to be made. In times of growth new jobs are created. In tough times jobs are cut back. Their have been other recessions since most of these boat companies were formed and they pulled through. It's not good for anyone involved, but hey will be ok.

That is why Ranger will not let Champion sell in a Ranger dealership area. Genmar's Ranger dealers will let the Stratos line sell in the Ranger shops, while they will not let a Champion boat in the door. Reasoning is and do not take any offense to this is, according to Genmar, We will put the Stratos line in with the Ranger dealers for those who can't afford a Ranger but can get into a Stratos. Not my words at all I've talked to 3 different Ranger/Stratos dealers and have gotten the same storyline. Best guess is Champion will carry the Salt Water line.

There's a Ranger dealer in Nashville that has Champion. They carry Skeeter and recently got Ranger, now Champion.

Maybe they need to get in line behind Larry Flynt for some bailout money.

Gossip is a bad thing. Ranger,Champion, and Stratos all at one dealership in California.
