    Frozen Throttle cable... Cold weather

here is a little problem I've had the last 3 falls. When fishing tournaments in cold weather, (under 32) My throttle cable freezes up. Can't get the Warm up lever to work either. this makes for tough starting on those days. Take the hood off and can work flipper by hand. Once it warms up some, Motor or air temp, it starts working correctly. Last time out, air around 19, took about 30 minutes and the whole battery to start. Still wouldn't work for about an hour so we idled on the lake for an hour... Then it warmed up enough to start working.
A little sidebar... My partner stopped fishing and said he knew how to fix it. Whipped it out and warmed up the cable naturally!! Believe it or not, The cable thawed out then!! We Went to my good spots then and proceeded to win the Tournament!!
Any ideas on how to fix other than drink alot of beer before the next snowball tournament??

Sounds to me like you have water in your cable, probably close to the engine, since it eventually thaws out (from the motor temp, I presume). You may need to replace the cable.

If ya keep your rig outside then cover the motor and cables and don't just dunk it when launching and you will not have probs or better yet replace the cable(s)!!
