Wow! Sorry to hear you're having problems and you're engine is fried. Have you contacted BRP corporate directly? Was the problem caused by a known engine defect? Don't give up until you've exhausted all options to reduce the impact on your wallet. I would probably go back with the ETEC as the boat is rigged for the engine.

    Good luck!!

He's not in the US, so sometimes warranties vary from country to country.

Sorry to hear about the motor, but like Duane said, I'd stick with the E-TEC. Assuming you were running an H.O. and not a standard E-TEC, I'm not sure you'd be as happy with the performance of the Opti.

Re: i have to re power (matchangler)

I would also go with a 200 Etec if it were me. There should be a lot more than 500.00 between the two engines since you have to changer out controls, trim gauges and cables to swap from a BRP engine to a Merc engine. The 200 Etec HO is a good strong engine and very quite. Rock is the man from BRP so if he said no i am thinking you wont get any better deal than the 1000.00 discount. Good luck with what ever engine u decide to go with.
