    520VX Transducer Placement

I have a 2005 520VX and installing HDS9 Gen 2 Touch. I want one transducer mounted in the best location for reading on plane. What and Where? Love this boat so far. TIA for all replies.

I've got a 518vvx so I'm not sure how different the hulls are but I mounted my 3 in 1 transducer where the old bullet transducer was. It's a bit crooked in this pic because I hit something and was checking for any damage and noticed that. I can get a good depth reading up to 50-55 mph, more or less depending on lake conditions. Down image and side image won't work (and aren't designed to) while on plane.

You will want a puck style transducer mounted in the bilge area near the drain plug

^^^^^This. That is how mine is and never lose bottom. If you do order the puck with the separate temp sensor.
