    A New Stratos Owner

Well I took the plunge yesterday and went and bought a boat I couldn't afford too much but I got a really good deal on the one I did find. I bought a 2007 Stratos 285 Pro XL with a Opti-Max 150 with almost 5 full years of warrenty left on it.

The motor had a total of 8.7 hours on it when I bought it, I got the whole package for less than 20K.

The boat is Awesome took it out to to see how she handles on the water today was a little rough because of the wind but it was a good test of how she ran, was upto about 5000 RPM and doing between 65-70 according to my GPS unit I didn't run her hard just wanted to see what she could get upto and then took her down to a modest 50 at just 4500 RPM.

She did really well and was nice to beable to not get tossed and bounced to death like I did on the old Tracker that I had.

It Great to be able to get back out on the water again.

    Here's the Pics.

I would check the GPS, the tach, or both for accuracy.

Nice rig at a GREAT price!

I have to agree, something is amiss with yer GPS, or that is one HOT 150 Opti.

It's the GPS I just was messing around with it and it was reading a MPH of 15 I think I'll just stick to the onboard speedometer.

Make sure your GPS is set for ground speed and not knots or nautical speed. I've hopped in one before that was set up for knots instead of MPH. You look down like.

    From Garmins site.
    "Speed Over Ground (SOG)
The actual speed the GPS unit is moving over the ground. This may differ from airspeed or nautical speed due to such things as head winds or sea conditions. For example, a plane that is going 120 knots into a 10-knot head wind will have a SOG of 110 knots."

Nice Rig!! I have a similar model ('04 with a 150 Vmax) and love it. I keep looking at new, bigger boats buts hard to stomach the price tag compared to what I paid for mine. Plus this one fishes and rides so well it is hard to part with it. Had mine in solid 3 footers this weekend and rode like a dream! Have fun with it!!

Good looking boat. That's an early '07 production boat. You should see low 60's out of it. The 285 is an EXCELLENT platform.
