Re: 1922 - 1964 JOHNSON Workshop Manual (ChampioNman)

This was my era Championman. Late 1963 I was 16yo & apprenticed as an Outboard Motor Tech & Auto Electrician, to a retired 67yo ex army commandant. His name was Lionel Codling & his business partner was Bruce Fitch. They had formed a Johnson Dealership in South Australia, called Adelaide Outboard Service. It still exists today after around 60 years. They both looked after me so well. The pictures below depict a tiny part of the demo boats we took customer out in virtually every Sunday. That was my start to the dedication I still have with OMC/BRP.

I learnt to ski behind an 1961 18hp Johnson & 14' Quintrex Aluminium boat. I was doing a 1000 mile trip along the Murray river in South Australia. We caught some fabulous Murray cod. I may post photo's if anyone is interested. I was 18 years at the time. The trip took 2 weeks.
    A different world then.
