    96 Javelin 379 set-up

Ok I asked before. Put a 6 inch plate on it, and added a 1'' spacer. I still have to trim the motor all the way up to get any decent lift.

Doesn't matter if its a raker, turbo, or renegade, nothing lifts the boat like I think it should.

Seems like it needs 8 to 10 inches too me. Got a 150 Johnny on it. Right now I am 2& 3/4 below the pad. Raker ventilates no matter where I am between current setting and 3 & 1/2 below. Turbo and gades don't blow out at all.

I would think that a 6" plate on that boat would be plenty. What are your RPM's . What pitch props are you trying to turn?

Rpms are 5400 with any prop from 23 to 25p.

I am going to figure out the rpms. Got some good info on some MOD's.

Something doesn't sound right. If you have a 24 Raker and set that motor at 3.5" below pad I think your motor should turn that upwards of 5500-5800. Are you sure there is nothing wrong with that motor?

Yes the motor does not have the larger bore carbs, so I am going to swap them out here shortly. That should perk it up. Remember this is not a fast strike engine, those have different carbs and heads. Its just a standard 150.

Even so, I still think the setback needs to be greater.

That just seems like an awful lot of setback for an 18' boat.

    Re: 96 Javelin 379 set-up (venom18)

I had almost 12 inches on my other boat, when it had a Gt175 on it. Dropped it back to 9.5 with the 200 looper. It was 18'2'', but I think it had some wet foam.

I also cannot pick up the tongue of the trailer.

Plus I have the front compartment full of fishing lures, a full rod locker, a MG tour 24 volt troller, 3 trolling motor bateries, oil tank, and on board charger, plus oil tank and life jackets and other junk. Its loaded.

Believe me I had it low on fuel the other day with a big 4 blade, which got the nose up like it should be, and it was MOVIN'. To bad it won't come out of the hole with that prop.

Still had to trim it off the stinking gauge to get it to lift up on the pad.
