New member and boat Stratos 181

So I have a motor, 1982 200hp Johnson, on a boat I decided isn't worth working on any more, 1982 Checkmate eluder with roted rear floor and good part of transom.

I see this 1988 Stratos 181 with no motor and decide to by it, probably paid to much? Nada said $2000. Just for boat. Nada also says my motor is only worth $250, mechanic friend said $1000 to $2000. Motor was out three times last year and ran good.

Completely different boats but I think I'll be fishing more than replacing floors and transoms, for now.

The only post I found about 181's only talked bad about them. What do you guys think? So far I have found an abundant of info on here.

Thanks, and yes I know my 181 is rated for a 175hp motor. If you didn't know now you do.

What length is your 181 and I will try and find out some stuff for you

Its 18 ft' maybe 18' 6" haven't actually measured yet. My checkmate was 18' also and it was only rated for 175hp. I couldn't believe some one would sell a boat set up like that without disclosing it. At the time I didn't know most 18' are rated at 175 or less.

I am pretty sure it will have the same hull design as my 90 201. If so they ain't very fast but are some of the best rough water boats I have ever set in Mine likes to run with the nose real high in the front also so cross winds are a biotch. Hard to get them propped correctly at least mine is either to slow out of the hole or to much r's on the top.

I have an 89 181 Pro... Good hull! it is made just like the 201Pro just shorter.
