    V.I.E.W. system

Had a power surge during a lightning storm while my 2001 21 SS Extreme onboard charger was plugged in. V.I.E.W. has not worked since but the low power, check engine and livewell indicator bulbs still light up. Stratos says the company that made these went out of business and they do not have replacements. Does any body make or repair these units? Thanks, Mark.

Good luck on this one. Lost mine on my 2000 21SS a couple years back. Went through the same thing with Stratos, "none available, company out of business". I was told to remove the battery cable for the power to the unit and then put it back on but, that didn't make a difference. It's really to bad cause I liked the unit and kinda miss it!

I made about a million different calls and finally tracked down a sub-contractor who worked on the VIEW system for Stratos, he's located in Rogers, AR. His name is Loy Haskins (479) 756-2851. He told me to take my unit out of the dash and send it in to him along with the computer module and he would see what he could do. I've just been too lazy to do the work and take it out and mail it in. Let me know how it goes and maybe I'll get off my butt and send mine in.

I know the unit in the dash removes with a couple of screws and a plug, but where is the computer module located and what does it look like?

It should be located behind the kick panel under the drivers console (mounted to the backside of the rod locker). That's where he told me anyway, should have a wiring harness and a water line hooked up to it for the speed. Was told that's usually what causes the unit to go bad, water gets into places it shouldn't and shorts it out. Mine shows the livewell indicators, battery light, and oil/check engine light but nothing else works on it.

Keep me informed also on how this goes. I did alot of searching around also when I first got my new to me 99 21 SS. I have the VIEW wiring diagram and another wiring diagram for the SS series if anyone wants em.
