I have been looking at Javelins in the 1996 to 2000 time frame, 19 and 20 feet. Some have a seat between the two bucket seats and some do not. Did those boats use the center seat as the fishing seats, or was that an option during those years?

I did some poking around on the C&O site and saw that they sell the center seat for Javelins and Stratos for the years I am looking at. If I needed to buy and install one how do you mount them?

C&O can hook you up. If you purchase the seat, you'll get the mounting hardware that is needed to install the seat.

I just bought a 18' 98 Javelin. The dealer told me that a center seat can be mounted with a hinge to the front of the platform/ btm of the seat.
Pobably need to rivit in place and watch out for the gas tank that is mounted underneath.
My question is where to buy a matching seat?
I need a swivel seat to replace the butt pad (bad back).

Is there any sort of rail system that would hold the seat securely when in use but that would allow you to remove it easily when it wasn't needed?

No, rail system that I know of. I have a '99 Javelin and I bought it with the center seat in place. The center seat is 2 pieces and the bottom seat is screwed to the cooler lid. I am thinking about taking it and adding studs to the seat, that way I can use wing nuts and easily take it on and off. I don't like stepping on it all the time going to the back deck. The back rest to the center seat is mounted directly to the boat but I cannot figure out how it is mounted. I don't see any screws that hold it on.

Zelmo, I have a 1996 Javelin 400. The seats are buckets and mine does not have the center seat. The captain and passenger seats are mounted using a piano hinge the complete width of the seat. The seats are secure and do not move when in use. Hope this helps.
