    dash kits

anyone know where you can get upgraded dash kits, thinking of replacing the black plastic dash with something a little nicer looking, like a wood kit in a car. Would be for a 98 268 FS

Look @ C&O webpage, they are a BBC sponsor. They may be able to match up something.

dosn't look like they have one right now, and the dash is in good shape I will keep checking there periodically. Thanks for the reply.

I have thought of doing this myself since the black plastic is ok but wood or even carbon fiber would be cool looking. I wonder if you can buy the stuff in bulk and then make your own to fit over the original dash. Sort of like what they do on Unique Whips (TV Show) or what you can buy for upgrading your dash in a car/truck.

    Re: dash kits (MNJAVELIN)

i watch that show also and is where why I started wanting to do it. Just got the boat last month. I am thinking of taking the dash out, and and getting some 1/8" wood, possibly oak. Cut out the flat plastic, tracing a pattern for the gauges and switches, then use a jigsaw and hole saw to cut the guage pattern. Coat the wood with polyurthane. and then reassemble. I am going to have to look into it a little more this weekend as I have the baot stored at my grandparents, about an hour away...., If I get this far I would then like to also put a matching door on the glove box as it is balck plastic as well.

This weekend I plan on building some speaker boxes to mount under the consoles for the stereo I am putting in. A lot of work, but Hopefully it will be ready by April. Last night on unique they showed the whole process of building the boxes, a little time consuming but worth it I think. Build the structure, cloth body for shape, resin, fiberglass mat, 3 more coats of resin, sand, bondo, sand, paint or cover in upolstry, I will probably just paint as it will be set in under the consoles.

Hey Nathan...welcome to the BBC!! If your looking for an option to recover your
dash and switch plates, go to http://www.rvinyl.com, and check out their selection of
    vinyl coverings. Good luck!

that is perfect exactly what I was looking for. Now I just have to figure what i want to leave black plastic and which parts I want to cover. Thanks!

    Re: dash kits (evin268fs)

Finished the speaker boxes, not quite perfect, a couple of folds in the fiberglass, but with limeted space under the consoles and it being hidded don't think it will matter.

As for the dash kits, I am think the wood grain bravo burl will go well the black plastic, what do you'll think?? Thinking of doing the upper panel around the guages, leaving the bottom panel all black, putting accent on the steering wheel and the inset portion of the glove box??

    Re: dash kits (evin268fs)

I got some samples from the company and my favorite was the Bravo Burl...
it has a rich look about it. The other one I liked was the Carbon Fiber, a totally
different look. I think if you go with the Burl you would'nt be disapointed!!
    Good Luck...
