    Help getting bow lift

it seems that no matter what i do, the bow doesnt seem to lift as much as it should.
    I have a 97 201. '04 225 VMAX 6" JP

I thought it was weight distribution so I ran the boat with everything out of it. The reason I dont think Im not getting enough lift if because I got passed by a Skeeter with a 225 HPDi while running at 72 on the GPS. As he went by, it looked like his boat was way up. And what really made me think this was because I dropped a buddy off on shore and I got a couple runs on video of my boat with me driving and it looked like the bow was low.... I know how to drive and I know my trim is working fine.... it's new....

    Any advice? Thanks
    - J.T.

Re: Help getting bow lift (Justin T - CT)

You mean bow lift like this?

    Or this?

What prop are you running, what kind of rpms are you turning, what is your water pressure at WOT, and what is your height below pad?

Either. The second picture I guess I'd be going for.... My boat looks like it touches the water just before the pad...

Im running the 27M, 56-5800 RPMS....Not sure of my pressure... (How would I check that)

    Thanks for your help

Does your rig have a water pressure gauge?

I am running a 28 Raker2 at 2.5" under pad on my rig. In those shots I am at 3/4 trim, carrying a tournament load and a full tank of fuel.

When you are trimmed up and running, are you throwing a big rooster tail?

Re: Help getting bow lift (AB)

I'm running 3.5 below the pad. I have the Yama smart gages so I'll have to check and see if they show WP... My rooster tail is just off the water and straight back.. When I had the motor up too high, I could tell the rooster tail was to high. Thats when I dropped it to 3.5....

    thanks for the help

3.5 is way too low. Move it up to 3" and see what she does. You will need to keep an eye on the water pressure (no lower than 15psi) and find where the boat handles best. For now, don't worry about the rooster too much. Move up until you either lose speed or lose water pressure. Like I said, I am at 2.5" under and I can still go up a bit. Once you get the height somewhat close, then send that prop to Mark and get him to build some cupping into it for you. When I picked mine up it was 3.5" below and was a bear to drive. Now, I can drive WOT with one hand if I wanted. Very little chinewalk, it will get flighty if I feed in too much trim. I run a tick under 3/4 trim. How much stuff do you have in the front storage areas?

The only main setup difference between you and me is I have 8" of setback.

Your water pressure is VERY important and you need to be watching that!!!

See if you can find a Tempest to try or a T-1 Yamaha... I had a '96 201 and the Tempest had the best bow lift by far... I had it set at 2 3/4" below going out to full trim, the trimming back slightly once it popped onto pad... I had low water pick-ups and don't know how high you can run without loosing pressure. That hull is very sensitive about plate height and once you find the right spot, you will know it. It will run completely different than it did before.
