    201 pro set-up

I have a 2005 201 pro with a 250 HPDI. 27T Yamaha prop. Manual 6" jackplte. Boat runs at 74 mph at 5400 rpms with just myself. Seems like it could get more.
Question is: I'd like to get a hydraulic jackplate. Should I get a 6" setback plate or 8"? And what type of speed pickup can I expect by raising the motor a bit? (I know I probably need to raise a bit now, but want the flexibility with the hydraulic)

8" is the key to the 201. With the 250HPDI, you should be around 77 or so....Keep the 27T on it for now, put the plate on, then start tinkering. On my 201/225HO Etec, I have found my sweet spot to be right at 2.75" under pad. Once you find that spot, send the prop to Mark and have him work his magic on it. You want that HPDI between 5800 and 5900 WOT.

Will do. Thanks. Thats what I thought. By theway. Checked my shaft height today. It's set 4.5" below the pad. I brought it up an inch in the meantime as I await the new plate.

What speed are you getting? I have the same set up as you except a dual console. What kind of prop are you running? Have you had your prop worked? I know that My pops has a lot of tackle in the belly but I'm gonna get him to take some of it out, HOPEFULLY!

Let me start by saying that there are no other 201/225HO Etec combos in this area that are running with me. Normal fishing load, full fuel, I run 76-77. Last weekend, I ran 77.8-78.2 for over 4 miles with 30 gallons of fuel and a full fishing load, solo. With a passenger I run 75-76. With two passengers 73-74. Running a 28 Raker2 at 2.75" under pad with 20psi of water pressure. If you want, you're close enough we could meet and work on setups one day. My prop for now is bone stock. I want to try some HydroMotive props on her and see what happens then.

That would be great , but it probably wouldn't be for a while. I'm a school teacher and I have a lot of school stuff on my plate for a while and I have a couple tourneys and classics on the way. I appreciate the offer and would love to take you up on it one day! If it is cool that it will be in the fututre tho ! Question? Do you fish the Accent Marine Tourneys on Kissimmee the last Sunday of every month?

I am always ready to hit the water and play with props and setup. Just let me know when you have some free time.

I haven't fished the Accent tournies yet (from here it is 2.5hrs each way to Camp Mac, and at 9mpg that wasn't going to cut it)....Now that gas has gone down a bit, I might. Email me some info on them and I might head that way for a few.
